A letter from Prevent Blindness Texas CEO Heather Patrick
As I reflect on the past year at Prevent Blindness Texas, I’m reminded of the remarkable impact a small, dedicated team can have. They say the only constant is change, a reality that feels more evident than ever, especially in the evolving landscape of healthcare within the social impact sector. Each day brings new challenges, but with them come opportunities for innovation and meaningful impact. Nelson Mandela once said, “It always seems impossible until it’s done”, and those words couldn’t be more true. This past year, our team at PBT, along with our incredible partners and volunteers, served over 61,000 individuals across Texas which is nearly five times the number of people we reached just five years ago. We are actively building sustainable systems of care in communities across the state to ensure access to vital eye health education and services. PBT deeply believes that we can significantly change the outcomes for so many individuals with the interventions and services we provide. We can’t do it alone though, so as you think about the legacy you want to be a part of, we hope you join our movement to make healthy vision a reality for thousands of children and adults in our state. We are changing lives one screening, one conversation, one pair of glasses, one exam, one voice at a time.
All my best,
Heather Patrick
