Dark Dining Houston 2022

At this year’s Dark Dining, Dr. Fish brought down the house with his program Memorable Souls (and Eyes) from 40 Years of Ophthalmology. Dr. Fish’s passion and investment for his patients shone through his words, and introductions by Dr. James Major and PBT CEO, Heather Patrick, reiterated the respect and appreciation Dr. Fish’s devotion and expertise has contributed to the vision community. Guests were taken on a journey of Dr. Fish’s path to ophthalmology complete with his poem, One Fish, Two Fish *with apologies to Dr. Seuss which was shared by his professor. Blindfold experiences of eating in the dark and champagne toasts helped to illustrate the challenges vision loss creates and the importance of eye health. Dr. Fish used his musical talents to have dark karaoke and helped guests loosen up and join in the singing without the advantage of reading the lyrics.

Dark Dining helped to further PBT’s mission of raising awareness for our statewide mission of preventing blindness and preserving sight. Last year PBT screened more than 27,000 children and adults, certified 1,000 vision screeners, and provided 3,732 individuals with necessary follow-up services. Events such as Dark Dining are important to shining a light on the vision needs of Texas. Thank you to Dr. Fish and all who participated in the event!
